Frequently Asked Questions

  • lol, great question 💅

my name is Tia Katcharian (they/them) and i often tell people i’m a queer, non-binary, neurodivergent artist who loves to do lots of things: tattoo, make clothes, take photos, poke around the forest, jam w/ friends, host gatherings, etc etc… 🌀

i dislike overhead lights. i’ve been considering adopting a dog. i really enjoy eating the same foods for a while before i move onto a new repeat meal (right now it’s sesame bagels w/ cream cheese 🥯)

i LOVE learning new things and asking endless questions - rn i’m fascinated w/ electricity and have been learning how 2 make lamps. i also hope to make my own remote control cars and dinosaurs and whatnot ⚡️

i’m a new tattooer, learning everyday - and i am so grateful that I get to work with such kind folks in my studio (with plenty of good snacks and good music) 🌈

  • Goopy Tattoo is a private tattoo studio inside a warehouse bay in industrial Southeast Portland, near SE Powell Blvd and SE 20th Ave 🌈

Upon booking a tattoo appointment, you will be sent an info packet with the address and where to park ✨

  • Yes! There is a parking spot right in front of the studio for you. There are no stairs, just the slightest incline from parking to front door. There is also a VERY large roll-up garage door that can be opened if needed.

Inside the studio, my tattoo bed is hydraulic and lowers to allow folks to place themselves on the table.

There is a bathroom in the studio that measures roughly 8’x8’. There are currently no handrails (something I hope to install very soon).

  • My minimum for tattoos is usually $150.

If your budget is a bit lower, be on the lookout for pop-up events and special flash days like WORM DAY: a playful event where we tattoo as many worms as possible for $75/ea, first come, first serve!

This is a great way to get a Goopy Tattoo for my homies w/ a tight budget 💕

  • At your tattoo appointment, you can pay via cash or venmo 👍

  • If you need to reschedule your tattoo appointment, please let me know at least 48 hours before your appointment. If you need to reschedule your appointment within 48 hours, you can still do so - but I require a second non-refundable deposit of $50.

If you need to cancel your appointment, you can do so at any time, but you will forfeit your non-refundable deposit.

  • You can view aftercare instructions here!

You will also be sent this after your appointment via email.

  • I definitely have lots to learn when it comes to tattooing color pieces on melanated skin - but I’m so down to learn and I love working with my melanated clients!

I’ve had clients w/ melanated skin tell me that other artists refused to tattoo color on their darker skin, saying it wouldn’t work or look good. And that sucks. It’s disrespectful and also just not true, lol.

I enjoy working with folks to find the colors that work on their skin! You can see some examples of my work on melanated skin here 💫

  • I would LOVE to be a traveling tattoo artist! One of the reasons I decided to become a tattoo artist was to explore different cities while still earning an income.

If you know of a studio where I could guest, please let me know! I’d love to come visit y’all 🚀
